Lyndale Lutheran has a heart for giving and serving in our community and our world. As we have for 125 years, we gather for meaningful and varied worship and then the work of our ministry begins; using our resources and talents to serve our neighbors and care for God’s creation.

We gathered to worship our Lord, to be fed by bread & wine and God's Word. We explored our call to go out and to offer 2 proclamations to the world; "Peace be with you." and "The Kingdom of God has come near." and do this with love and not argument or violence.

We gathered on a very warm Sunday morning to explore our own demons and how at times we might struggle to even desire healing. The known, even when it isn't good, is sometimes more comfortable than the unknown. How do we embrace the vulnerability that comes with the love of Jesus and how do we answer the call to share our own faith story? Perhaps most importantly, we rejoiced as our youth shared their stories and experiences from the call they recently answered to serve in Milwaukee, WI on their 2025 mission trip. These young people are amazing! Thank you, Lord.

We gathered to celebrate Father's Day, to bless and send our youth and their leaders off on their annual mission trip. And we gathered to share grief, to take solace, to find strength and hope in the Word and Bread and Wine and in being together in community as Jesus followers.

We celebrated the gift of the Holy Spirit on this Pentecost Sunday, wearing red and enjoying the music of our Praise Team. Together we explored the story of the Tower of Babel, considering the reality that this story need not be paired with the story of Pentecost from Acts as problem and resolution. God desired people to be scattered. God encouraged diversity from the creation of the world. Perhaps, as some writers have noted, the real miracle of Pentecost is that we were able to see, for at least a short time, that it is possible to listen to each other even amidst our differences. It was not one language that was heard that day. Rather, everyone heard the message in their own language. God desires that all hear the Good News, whatever their culture or language or origin. Come Holy Spirit!

We gathered to worship, to celebrate with our graduates and to ask God's blessing upon them in this new part of life's journey. We considered how it is that we are called to be one, how Jesus never defined being one as being liked-minded. He didn't understand unity to be accomplished by exclusion. We do not love others because their ideas, values, opinions or theological ideologies affirm our own. We love others because Jesus asks us to.

Thanks to Steve Maijala, a wonderful lay leader, our worship service this Memorial Day weekend included a good message as well as a tribute and a thank you to those who have given so much in service to our country and a remembrance of the murder of George Floyd 5 years ago. Thank you Steve! Thanks, once again, to Lois Smith our guest musician. We so appreciate her willingness to share her gifts.

We gathered to celebrate the gift of mothers and to remember and uplift those for whom the day is difficult. Our focus on Psalm 23 as well as the Gospel and reading from Revelation reminded us that a "table is prepared even in the midst of our enemies." We are fed with the love and forgiveness and presence of our Lord even when we are frightened and worried. Knowing that perfect love casts out all fear, knowing never will we love perfectly, we are called to keep working to love as Jesus did, to follow the words of Jesus, loving and welcoming all people always.
